In 1966, I took my first hike at Point Reyes National Seashore with my grandfather; I was six years old. We walked the Bear Valley Trail out to Arch Rock. The seed was planted. I have been walking the curves and edges of this land ever since.

Those of you who have been fortunate enough to visit the West Marin coast know the indescribable feeling when standing on a cliff while looking out over the vast Pacific. One might glance to the north and spy an elk, and in the next moment see a whale spout in the west. This coast is both intimate and infinite.

Many of us share the longing to belong to a place—to know the seasons, to sense the nuances of the land and all her denizens. Through my photographic explorations, my relationship with the West Marin landscape continues to bring me home.

This land holds us all in her beautiful quiet light.
